WFvMINY report: Ah, well, not the result, BUT WE GET THE Q
By MI New York Media
It was a game where we experimented a bit, tried out our bench, gave a few guys game time, gave some of our big guns some rest. The result might not have gone our way, but importantly, we’ve officially gotten the ‘Q’ against our name! That’s correct: WE ARE INTO THE PLAYOFFS!!
A slight stutter with the bat
The day started with an hour’s delay owing to rain, reducing the game to 18 overs. Monank Patel endured a rare failure, Nicholas Pooran couldn’t get a big one in either. On a slowish pitch, Kunwarjeet Singh, making his debut for us, was impressive as he anchored the innings for a 30-ball 33. With useful cameos from Sunny Patel and Heath Richards, MINY got to 112/8.
First game, top impression
MI New York fielded four debutants: Kunwarjeet Singh, Fabian Allen, Tristan Luus and Sharad Lumba. Kunwarjeet got a solid 33, Fabian struck off the first ball he bowled, getting the wicket of the dangerous Rachin Ravindra, the young Tristan Luus, just 20 years of age, cleaned up Michael Owen and later the dangerous Glenn Maxwell.
Playoffs, here we come
The result of the last league game would determine who among Texas Super Kings or San Francisco Unicorns we’d face in the Eliminator. This is our territory where the MI spirit – tried, tested and crowned champions around the globe – will come to the fore. Let’s get the chants going…
